"Alice had to step in just a few weeks before 11+ ISEB began and she hit the ground running. She breezed into the house bringing tranquillity and professional calm. I have never met a Keystone Tutor who is not on top of her brief but what was most welcome was that the kids absolutely loved being with her as well. 鈥淏ut, lessons are fun with Alice鈥, said my daughter when the 11+ exams ended. Quirky, intelligent, flexible, fun and worked a treat for my kid"
Parent of Year 6 and Year 8 students"Max has been absolutely fantastic with my daughter and he has taught her so much and helped her confidence grow. My daughter did very well on the ISEB and also got through to the second round City Exam which meant that she got invited for an interview for all the schools she applied for - this would not have been possible without Max's fab tutoring! He has a very calm approach and equally makes the lessons fun. I could not recommend him more highly!"

All tutoring is tailored to the individual needs of each child based on their strengths, weaknesses, learning style and the schools they are applying to.
The ISEB Pre-Tests are online and adaptive with questions getting progressively harder as the candidate answers questions correctly. Therefore unlike in traditional exams, where there is a fixed syllabus to cover, preparing a student for the ISEB Pre-Tests involves both ensuring the student is comfortable with the fundamentals and also stretching them to the highest level they can achieve beyond the core syllabus.
A further element of complexity is added to any preparation programme because the ISEB Pre-Tests are computerised and contain verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions, both of which students are unlikely to be familiar with. At Keystone we spend time familiarising students with the computerised format as well as how to approach unusual question types.
Our typical ISEB tutoring includes:
Established in 2007, Keystone have helped over 10,000 students fulfil their educational potential. Uniquely, Keystone exclusively employs 60 full-time UK based tutors and also represents a highly select pool of freelance tutors. With offices in London, Hong Kong and Singapore and recommended by head teachers of top independent schools, we have an exceptional reputation for helping students (wherever they are in the world) achieve their best; delivering outstanding results, building confidence and instilling life-long intellectual curiosity.
We go the extra mile to match a great tutor with your child and ensure a perfect fit.
When you request a tutor through Keystone we spend a significant amount of time learning about your circumstances. Priding ourselves on how well we know our tutors鈥 specialist strengths, we ensure that we put forward the very best tutor for your requirements.
During the first session the tutor starts by assessing where the child is at, their academic ability, their strengths and perceived weaknesses. Tutors will then devise a programme tailored to the specific circumstances of the student and your target school.
After the first lesson, one of our dedicated client managers will contact you to find out how the lesson went. Our client managers are always available at the end of the phone and they are frequently praised for their efficiency, dedication and responsiveness.

Tuition should start anywhere between a couple of months before the test to upwards of 18 months. With longer term preparation, skill gaps can be addressed. Shorter term preparation deals with how students actually deal with the four papers: English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
It is challenging to predict exactly what is going to come up in the ISEB Pre-Test. The best way to prepare for the Pre-Test is to use a mixture of the best online testing platforms. Not only does this increase the chance that a student will have seen a specific question type before, but the variation in styles and formatting develops flexibility and resilience to new and difficult situations (exactly like they'll experience in the Pre-Test.)
The ISEB (Independent Schools Examination Board) Pre-Test is used to test a child鈥檚 current learning and academic potential. It is used by a range of private secondary schools in the UK to assess children before the 13+ entrance exams and at a handful of schools as a pre-test to 11+ entry.
The test consists of English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning segments. It is an online test normally delivered at the child's current school or the school the student is applying to, and the questions are adaptive, meaning that correct answers will unlock even harder questions.

Guide to Computerised Pre-tests
In recent years, many independent senior schools that have put pre-tests in place have purposefully designed them with as little transparency as possible. It is for this reason that the tests are often computer generated and no past papers are issued. As such, no tutor can claim to have in depth knowledge or experience of the tests themselves, in their current form.
ISEB Pre-Test Scores and Pass Mark
The way the ISEB Pre-Test is scored, and the way the results are used by different schools, can be confusing for parents. The key questions parents have about these tests are answered below.
